It is characterized by its rosette of long, silvery leaves that can grow up to three feet in length. This plant thrives in high-altitude volcanic regions, where it adapts to harsh conditions, including strong winds and limited soil. The silversword is a member of the Asteraceae family and can take years to mature before producing a tall flower stalk. This stalk can reach heights of up to eight feet and is covered in small, bright yellow flowers. Unfortunately, the silversword is considered endangered due to habitat loss and invasive species.
