Silica gel is a granular, porous form of silicon dioxide, commonly used as a desiccant to control humidity and keep products dry. It is often found in small packets labeled "Do Not Eat" that are included in packaging for electronics, shoes, and food items to prevent moisture damage.
The gel absorbs moisture from the air, helping to protect items from mold, mildew, and corrosion. Although it is non-toxic, it is not meant for consumption. Silica gel can be reused by drying it out in an oven, allowing it to absorb moisture again for future use.
