photoetching
Photoetching is a printmaking technique that uses light-sensitive materials to create detailed images on metal plates. The process begins with a coated plate, which is exposed to ultraviolet light through a film negative. The areas that are exposed harden, while the unexposed areas remain soft and can be washed away, leaving a design etched into the plate.
After the etching process, the plate is immersed in an acid bath, which further etches the exposed areas, creating depth. Once completed, ink is applied to the plate, and it is pressed onto paper, resulting in a high-quality print that captures intricate details.
