Painted wolves, also known as African wild dogs, are a unique species of canid found primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. These social animals live in packs, typically consisting of 2 to 27 members, and are highly cooperative hunters, often targeting medium-sized ungulates. The scientific name for painted wolves is Lycaon pictus. They are recognized for their exceptional stamina and teamwork during hunts, which allows them to chase down prey over long distances. Unfortunately, painted wolves are classified as endangered due to habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and diseases.
