onmyodo
Onmyodo is a traditional Japanese esoteric practice that combines elements of Shinto, Buddhism, and Chinese philosophy. It focuses on the balance of natural forces and the influence of celestial bodies on human affairs. Practitioners, known as onmyoji, use rituals, divination, and astrology to guide individuals and communities.
The practice originated in the Heian period (794-1185) and was historically associated with the imperial court. Onmyodo includes various techniques, such as feng shui and spirit communication, to promote harmony and ward off negative influences. It remains a significant cultural aspect in Japan today.
