Onmyōdō
Onmyōdō is a traditional Japanese esoteric practice that combines elements of Shinto, Buddhism, and Taoism. It focuses on the balance of natural forces and the influence of celestial bodies on human affairs. Practitioners, known as onmyōji, use various techniques, including divination, astrology, and ritual magic, to harmonize with these forces.
The practice originated in the Heian period (794-1185) and was influenced by Chinese cosmology. Onmyōdō played a significant role in Japanese culture, particularly in court rituals and the protection against evil spirits. Its legacy continues today in various forms, including festivals and spiritual practices.
