muscle dystrophy
Muscle dystrophy refers to a group of genetic disorders that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. These conditions are caused by mutations in genes responsible for muscle function, leading to the deterioration of muscle fibers over time. Symptoms often begin in childhood, but some forms can appear later in life.
There are several types of muscle dystrophy, with Duchenne muscular dystrophy being one of the most common. Individuals with this condition may experience difficulty walking, frequent falls, and muscle pain. While there is currently no cure, treatments focus on managing symptoms and improving quality of life.
