metoidioplasty
Metoidioplasty is a surgical procedure often sought by transgender men or non-binary individuals to create a neophallus, or new penis, from existing genital tissue. This technique utilizes the enlarged clitoris, which may occur due to hormone therapy, allowing for a more natural appearance and function.
During the procedure, the surgeon reshapes the clitoral tissue and may also construct a urethra to enable urination while standing. Metoidioplasty can be performed alone or in conjunction with other surgeries, such as phalloplasty, depending on the individual's goals and needs.
