mature mRNA
Mature mRNA is a form of messenger RNA that has undergone processing after its initial transcription from DNA. This processing includes the addition of a 5' cap and a poly-A tail, as well as the removal of non-coding regions called introns through a process known as splicing. The resulting molecule is a continuous sequence of coding regions, or exons, that can be translated into a protein.
Mature mRNA serves as a template for protein synthesis in the ribosome. It carries the genetic information from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, where it guides the assembly of amino acids into proteins. This process is essential for cellular function and the expression of genes.
