The lungs are two essential organs in our body that help us breathe. They are located in the chest and are responsible for taking in oxygen from the air and removing carbon dioxide, a waste product. When we inhale, air travels through our trachea and into the lungs, where tiny air sacs called alveoli allow the exchange of gases to occur.
Each lung is divided into sections called lobes, with the right lung having three lobes and the left lung having two. The diaphragm, a muscle beneath the lungs, plays a crucial role in breathing by contracting and relaxing to help move air in and out. Healthy lungs are vital for overall well-being!
