Lemurs are small to medium-sized primates native to the island of Madagascar. They belong to the suborder Strepsirrhini, which also includes lorises and galagos. Lemurs are known for their large eyes, which help them see well at night, and their long, bushy tails. They live in social groups called troops and communicate using a variety of vocalizations, scents, and body language.
There are about 100 different species of lemurs, ranging from the tiny mouse lemur to the larger indri. Most lemurs are arboreal, meaning they spend much of their time in trees. Unfortunately, many lemur species are endangered due to habitat loss and hunting.
