javelina
The javelina, also known as the collared peccary, is a medium-sized mammal native to the Americas. They typically weigh between 50 to 100 pounds and have a stocky build with a coarse, bristly coat. Javelinas are social animals, often found in groups called sounders, which usually consist of 6 to 20 individuals.
These animals are primarily herbivorous, feeding on a variety of plants, fruits, and roots. Javelinas have a keen sense of smell, which they use to locate food. They are commonly found in desert and scrub habitats, particularly in the southwestern United States and parts of Central America.
