jackass penguins
The jackass penguin, also known as the African penguin, is a species native to the southwestern coast of Africa. They are easily recognized by their distinctive black and white coloring and the unique braying sound they make, which resembles a donkey, hence the name "jackass." These penguins typically stand about 2 feet tall and weigh between 5 to 11 pounds.
Jackass penguins primarily inhabit coastal areas and prefer sandy beaches for nesting. They are social birds, often found in large colonies, and feed mainly on fish and squid. Unfortunately, their population is declining due to factors like habitat loss and overfishing, leading to their classification as endangered.
