highly sensitive person
A highly sensitive person (HSP) is someone who experiences heightened sensitivity to sensory input, emotions, and social situations. This trait is part of a personality type identified by psychologist Elaine Aron, who estimates that about 15-20% of the population may be HSPs. They often process information more deeply and can become easily overwhelmed by loud noises, bright lights, or strong emotions.
HSPs may also be more empathetic and attuned to the feelings of others, which can lead to both positive and negative experiences. While their sensitivity can enhance creativity and intuition, it may also result in stress or anxiety in overstimulating environments.
