harpy eagles
The harpy eagle is one of the largest and most powerful birds of prey in the world. Found primarily in tropical rainforests of Central and South America, it has striking features, including a distinctive crest of feathers on its head and strong, curved talons. Adult harpy eagles can weigh between 6 to 10 kilograms and have a wingspan of about 2 meters.
These eagles primarily hunt medium-sized mammals, such as sloths and monkeys, using their exceptional eyesight and agility. They build large nests high in trees, where they raise their young. Due to habitat loss and hunting, the harpy eagle is considered near threatened in some regions.
