frigatebird
The frigatebird is a large seabird known for its impressive wingspan, which can reach up to 2.3 meters (7.5 feet). These birds are found in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, often soaring high above the ocean. They are excellent gliders and can stay aloft for hours without flapping their wings.
Frigatebirds are characterized by their long, pointed wings and forked tails. Males have a distinctive red throat pouch that they inflate during mating displays. They primarily feed on fish and squid, often stealing food from other birds, a behavior known as kleptoparasitism.
