The eastern lowland gorilla, also known as the Grauer's gorilla, is the largest subspecies of gorilla. They inhabit the dense forests of the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. These gorillas are characterized by their robust bodies, long arms, and a distinctive silver back in adult males.
Eastern lowland gorillas primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and stems. They live in groups called troops, led by a dominant male. Unfortunately, they are critically endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and civil unrest in their region, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
