darüşşifa
A darüşşifa is a historical term for a hospital or medical facility in the Islamic world, particularly during the Middle Ages. These institutions were established to provide care for the sick and injured, combining medical treatment with spiritual healing. They often included a variety of services, such as herbal medicine, surgery, and mental health care.
In addition to medical services, darüşşifas served as centers for learning and research. Scholars and physicians, like Ibn Sina, contributed to medical knowledge within these facilities. The concept of darüşşifa reflects the integration of health, education, and community support in Islamic culture.
