cricket pitch
A cricket pitch is a rectangular area in the center of a cricket field where most of the action takes place. It measures 22 yards long and 10 feet wide, with a hard surface made of grass or clay. The pitch is crucial for both bowlers and batsmen, as it affects how the ball behaves when bowled.
At each end of the pitch, there are wickets, which consist of three vertical stumps topped by two horizontal bails. The primary objective for the bowler is to hit the wickets, while the batsman aims to defend them and score runs.
