corner kick
A corner kick is a method of restarting play in a soccer match when the ball goes out of bounds over the goal line, last touched by a defending player. The attacking team is awarded the kick, which is taken from the corner arc nearest to where the ball went out. This allows the attacking team an opportunity to score a goal.
During a corner kick, players often position themselves strategically to either receive the ball or create space. The player taking the kick can pass the ball to a teammate or deliver it into the penalty area, where other players, including the goalkeeper, may attempt to score.
