copperheads
Copperheads are a type of venomous snake found primarily in the eastern and central United States. They belong to the Crotalinae subfamily, which includes other pit vipers. Copperheads are easily recognized by their distinctive copper-colored heads and hourglass-shaped patterns on their bodies. They typically inhabit wooded areas, rocky hillsides, and wetlands.
These snakes are known for their relatively mild venom compared to other venomous snakes. Copperheads usually prefer to avoid confrontation and will often rely on camouflage to escape detection. When threatened, they may hiss or vibrate their tails as a warning before resorting to biting.
