chugakkou
Chugakkou, or junior high school, is an educational institution in Japan for students typically aged 12 to 15. It serves as a bridge between elementary school and high school, covering grades 7 to 9. The curriculum includes subjects like mathematics, science, social studies, and languages, along with physical education and arts.
In Japan, chugakkou is part of the compulsory education system, meaning students must attend until they complete it. After graduating, many students move on to koukou, or high school, where they can further their education and prepare for higher education or vocational training.
