cell tower triangulation
Cell tower triangulation is a method used to determine the location of a mobile device by measuring its distance from multiple cell towers. When a phone connects to nearby towers, it sends signals that the towers can detect. By calculating the time it takes for the signals to travel, the system can estimate how far the phone is from each tower.
Using data from at least three towers, the system can create a triangular area where the phone is likely located. This technique is commonly used in emergency services to locate callers and in mobile network management to optimize coverage.
