bhavas
In Indian classical music and dance, "bhavas" refer to the emotional expressions or sentiments conveyed through performance. Each bhava represents a specific feeling, such as love, anger, or joy, and is essential for connecting with the audience. Artists use facial expressions, gestures, and body movements to communicate these emotions effectively.
There are nine primary bhavas, known as the Navarasa, which include Shanta (peace), Raudra (anger), and Vira (heroism). These emotions serve as the foundation for storytelling in various art forms, allowing performers to evoke deep emotional responses and create a rich, immersive experience for their audience.
