armadillos
Armadillos are small to medium-sized mammals known for their unique armor-like shell made of bony plates. They belong to the family Dasypodidae and are primarily found in the Americas, especially in South America and the southern parts of North America. There are about 21 species of armadillos, with the nine-banded armadillo being the most common.
These creatures are primarily nocturnal and are known for their burrowing habits. Armadillos have a diet that mainly consists of insects, grubs, and other small invertebrates. They are also notable for their ability to roll into a ball as a defense mechanism, although not all species can do this.
