angiograms
An angiogram is a medical imaging technique used to visualize the inside of blood vessels and organs. It involves injecting a special dye, called a contrast agent, into the bloodstream. This dye makes the blood vessels visible on X-ray images, allowing doctors to assess conditions like blockages or abnormalities.
The procedure is typically performed in a hospital or specialized clinic. A thin tube, known as a catheter, is inserted into a blood vessel, usually in the arm or groin, to deliver the contrast agent. After the images are taken, the catheter is removed, and patients can often go home the same day.
