abdominal ultrasound
An abdominal ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that uses sound waves to create images of the organs and structures inside the abdomen. It is a non-invasive procedure commonly used to examine the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and kidneys. The test helps doctors diagnose conditions such as tumors, cysts, or inflammation.
During the procedure, a gel is applied to the skin, and a small device called a transducer is moved over the abdomen. The sound waves emitted by the transducer bounce off internal organs, producing images that can be viewed on a monitor. This method is safe and does not involve radiation.
