Zorats Karer
Zorats Karer, also known as the Armenian Stonehenge, is a prehistoric monument located in the Syunik Province of Armenia. It consists of a complex arrangement of large stones, some of which are upright and others lying flat. The site is believed to date back to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age, around 3500 BC, and is thought to have been used for astronomical observations and rituals.
The site features over 200 standing stones, known as menhirs, many of which have holes drilled into them. These holes are believed to align with celestial events, suggesting that the site may have served as an ancient observatory. Zorats Karer is a significant archaeological site, providing insights into the early human understanding of astronomy and their cultural practices.
