Zinc Anodes
Zinc anodes are sacrificial metal components used to protect underwater metal structures from corrosion. They work by corroding themselves instead of the metal they are attached to, such as boats, piers, or oil rigs. This process is known as cathodic protection and is essential for maintaining the integrity of metal surfaces exposed to water.
Typically made from zinc, these anodes are installed on the hulls of ships or other submerged equipment. As the zinc corrodes, it releases electrons that help to prevent the corrosion of the more valuable metal parts. Regular replacement of zinc anodes is necessary to ensure effective protection.
