Magnesium Anodes
Magnesium anodes are a type of sacrificial anode used to protect metal structures from corrosion, particularly in marine environments. They work by corroding themselves instead of the metal they are meant to protect, such as boats, pipelines, or storage tanks. This process helps to extend the lifespan of these structures.
These anodes are made from a magnesium alloy, which is more reactive than the metals they protect. When placed in water or soil, the magnesium anode will corrode first, effectively preventing rust and deterioration of the underlying metal. Regular replacement of magnesium anodes is necessary to maintain effective protection.
