Zebulon Pike
Zebulon Pike was an American explorer and military officer born on January 5, 1779. He is best known for his expeditions in the early 1800s, particularly his exploration of the southern portion of the Louisiana Purchase. Pike's journeys contributed to the understanding of the geography and natural resources of the western United States.
One of his most notable achievements was the discovery of Pikes Peak in Colorado, which is named in his honor. Pike also led an expedition to explore the Rio Grande and the southwestern territories, providing valuable information about the region's landscape and indigenous peoples. He died in 1813 during the War of 1812.
