William Clark
William Clark was an American explorer, soldier, and public official best known for his role in the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Born on August 1, 1770, in Virginia, he played a crucial part in mapping the western territories of the United States after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.
Alongside Meriwether Lewis, Clark led the expedition from 1804 to 1806, traveling from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean and back. Their journey provided valuable information about the geography, wildlife, and native tribes of the region, significantly contributing to the westward expansion of the United States.
