Zapotec script
The Zapotec script is an ancient writing system used by the Zapotec civilization in what is now Oaxaca, Mexico. This script dates back to around 500 BCE and is one of the earliest forms of writing in Mesoamerica. It consists of a series of symbols and glyphs that represent sounds, words, or ideas, allowing the Zapotecs to record their language and communicate information.
The script was primarily used for religious and administrative purposes, including inscriptions on monuments and pottery. Although the full understanding of the Zapotec script remains incomplete, it provides valuable insights into the culture, history, and social organization of the Zapotec people.
