Z Ring
The Z Ring is a structure found in plant cells that plays a crucial role during cell division. It is part of the cytoskeleton and helps in the formation of the cell plate, which eventually leads to the separation of two daughter cells. The Z Ring is primarily composed of a protein called FtsZ, which assembles into a ring shape at the site of division.
During the process of cytokinesis, the Z Ring contracts and facilitates the inward growth of the cell membrane and cell wall. This ensures that the two new cells are properly formed and separated. The Z Ring is essential for maintaining the integrity and function of plant cells during reproduction.
