Yukon First Nations
The Yukon First Nations are Indigenous peoples located in the Yukon Territory of Canada. They consist of 14 distinct groups, each with its own unique culture, language, and traditions. These nations have a deep connection to the land and have lived in the region for thousands of years, relying on its resources for sustenance and cultural practices.
In 1990, the Yukon First Nations signed the Umbrella Final Agreement, which established a framework for self-governance and land rights. This agreement allows the First Nations to manage their lands and resources, promoting economic development while preserving their cultural heritage and traditions.
