Yokuts Language
The Yokuts language is a group of Native American languages spoken by the Yokuts people in California's San Joaquin Valley. It belongs to the larger Penutian language family and includes several dialects, such as Northern Yokuts and Southern Yokuts.
Historically, the Yokuts language was used for daily communication, storytelling, and cultural practices. However, due to colonization and the decline of the Yokuts population, the language has faced significant endangerment. Efforts are being made to revitalize and preserve the language through educational programs and community initiatives.
