Yin Ruins
The Yin Ruins, also known as Yinxu, are the archaeological remains of the last capital of the Shang Dynasty in ancient China. Located near the modern city of Anyang in Henan Province, these ruins date back to around 1300 to 1046 BCE. They are significant for their well-preserved artifacts, including oracle bones, which provide insight into early Chinese writing and divination practices.
Discovered in the late 19th century, the Yin Ruins cover an area of approximately 25 square kilometers. Excavations have revealed royal tombs, palatial structures, and evidence of advanced bronze metallurgy. The site is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its importance in understanding early Chinese civilization.
