Yeonpyeong Island is a small island located in the Yellow Sea, part of South Korea. It is situated about 12 kilometers from the mainland and is known for its strategic military significance due to its proximity to North Korea. The island covers an area of approximately 7.5 square kilometers and has a population of around 1,500 residents.
The island is primarily known for its fishing industry and beautiful natural scenery, including beaches and coastal landscapes. It has also been a site of historical conflict, notably during the Yeonpyeong incident in 2010, which heightened tensions between South Korea and North Korea.
