Yellow-bellied Prinia
The Yellow-bellied Prinia is a small bird belonging to the family Cisticolidae. It is primarily found in parts of South Asia, including countries like India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. This bird is characterized by its yellow underbelly, brownish upperparts, and a long tail, which it often flicks while foraging for insects and seeds in grasslands and scrub areas.
Typically, the Yellow-bellied Prinia measures about 12 to 14 centimeters in length. It is known for its melodious song, which it uses to establish territory and attract mates. The bird builds a cup-shaped nest from grass and leaves, usually placed low in dense vegetation, providing protection for its young from predators.
