Yarlung Tsangpo River
The Yarlung Tsangpo River is one of the longest rivers in Tibet, flowing approximately 2,057 kilometers (1,281 miles). It originates from the Angsi Glacier in the Tibetan Plateau and travels eastward through the region before entering India, where it is known as the Brahmaputra River.
This river is significant for its unique geography, as it carves through the Himalayas, creating the world's deepest canyon, the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon. The river supports diverse ecosystems and is vital for the livelihoods of many communities along its banks, providing water for agriculture and daily use.
