Yamato State
The Yamato State is an ancient Japanese polity that emerged around the 3rd century CE. It is considered the first unified state in Japan, with its center in the region of modern-day Nara. The Yamato rulers claimed descent from the sun goddess Amaterasu, establishing a lineage that continues to the present-day Japanese imperial family.
During the Yamato period, the state began to adopt elements of Chinese culture, including writing, governance, and Buddhism. This cultural exchange helped shape early Japanese society and laid the foundation for future developments in Japanese history and political structure.
