Xokleng
The Xokleng are an Indigenous people from Brazil, primarily residing in the state of Santa Catarina. They are part of the larger Jê linguistic family and have a rich cultural heritage that includes traditional practices, beliefs, and languages. The Xokleng community has faced significant challenges due to colonization and land encroachment, which have impacted their way of life.
Historically, the Xokleng were semi-nomadic, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering for sustenance. Today, they are working to preserve their culture and language while also engaging with modern society. Efforts are being made to reclaim their ancestral lands and promote their rights as Indigenous people in Brazil.
