Wukong (Monkey)
Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is a central character in the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. He is a monkey born from a stone who gains supernatural powers through Taoist practices. Wukong is known for his incredible strength, agility, and ability to transform into various forms. He wields a magical staff called Ruyi Jingu Bang, which can change size and is immensely powerful.
Wukong's character embodies themes of rebellion and self-discovery. He initially defies the heavens and faces numerous challenges, including battles with gods and demons. Eventually, he becomes a loyal companion to the monk Xuanzang on a pilgrimage to retrieve sacred Buddhist texts, showcasing his growth and redemption throughout the journey.
