World Trade Center Memorial
The World Trade Center Memorial, also known as the 9/11 Memorial, is located in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It honors the nearly 3,000 victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the 1993 bombing of the original World Trade Center. The memorial features two large reflecting pools set within the footprints of the original twin towers, surrounded by a grove of trees.
Inaugurated on September 11, 2011, the memorial includes the names of all the victims inscribed on bronze panels around the pools. The design, created by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker, aims to provide a place for reflection and remembrance.
