World Championship Wrestling (WCW)
World Championship Wrestling (WCW) was a professional wrestling promotion based in the United States, founded in 1988. It became one of the largest wrestling organizations in the world, known for its high-profile events and popular wrestlers. WCW was famous for its weekly television shows, including Monday Nitro, which often competed directly with WWE’s Monday Night Raw.
WCW gained significant popularity in the 1990s, particularly during the Monday Night Wars, a period of intense competition between WCW and WWE. The promotion featured iconic wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Goldberg. However, due to financial struggles, WCW was sold to WWE in 2001, marking the end of its operations.
