Woodblock Printing
Woodblock printing is a traditional printing technique that involves carving an image or text into a wooden block. The raised areas of the block are inked, and then paper is pressed onto the block to transfer the inked design. This method allows for the reproduction of images and text multiple times, making it an efficient way to produce books and artwork.
Originating in China around the 7th century, woodblock printing spread to other parts of Asia and eventually to Europe. It played a significant role in the dissemination of knowledge and culture, particularly during the Renaissance, when printed materials became more accessible to the public.
