Women's Royal Air Force
The Women's Royal Air Force (WRAF) was formed in 1918 as a women's branch of the British Royal Air Force. It aimed to free men for combat roles during World War I by allowing women to serve in various support positions. The WRAF provided essential services, including administrative, technical, and logistical support.
After the war, the WRAF was disbanded in 1920 but was re-established during World War II. It played a crucial role in the air force, with women serving in roles such as pilots, mechanics, and air traffic controllers. The WRAF continued until it merged with the Royal Air Force in 1994.
