Womanist Theological Society
The Womanist Theological Society is an organization that focuses on the intersection of faith, gender, and race, particularly from the perspective of Black women. It aims to create a space for dialogue and scholarship that addresses the unique experiences and challenges faced by women of color within religious contexts.
Founded in the late 20th century, the society promotes the development of womanist theology, which emphasizes the importance of community, social justice, and the lived experiences of Black women. Through conferences, publications, and collaborative projects, the society seeks to empower its members and contribute to broader theological discussions.
