Wixárika
The Wixárika, also known as the Huichol, are an indigenous people primarily located in the Sierra Madre Occidental region of Mexico. They are known for their rich cultural traditions, vibrant art, and deep spiritual beliefs, which are closely tied to their natural environment. The Wixárika maintain a strong connection to their ancestral lands and practice traditional agriculture, hunting, and gathering.
Wixárika art is particularly notable for its colorful beadwork and yarn paintings, which often depict their mythology and religious practices. The Wixárika also engage in rituals that honor their deities, such as Tatewari, the fire god, and participate in pilgrimages to sacred sites like Wirikuta, a desert area considered holy.
