Wiwis
Wiwis are small, flightless birds native to the islands of New Zealand. They are known for their distinctive long beaks and brown, fluffy feathers. These nocturnal birds are primarily insectivorous, feeding on insects and worms found in the forest floor.
Wiwis are an important cultural symbol for the Māori people of New Zealand, often featured in their stories and art. Due to habitat loss and predation by introduced species, Wiwis are considered vulnerable, and conservation efforts are in place to protect their populations and habitats.
